Amartya is the student-led association of the Department of Economics that aims to inculcate and develop various skills among its recipients. The association strives to realize the economist's observation by cultivating opportunities for students to engage, deliberate, and express on economic matters through its wing activities, guest lectures, competitions, and publications. Excellence in research & development and crafting economic enthusiasts to serve the community has been our vision.
OVERVIEW
Established in 1969, the Department of Economics is one of the strongest and vibrant departments in India. The Department of Economics has distinguished itself to be one of the leading centres of learning economics in the country. The student-led association Amartya was launched in the year 2011. The association has evolved over years and is now able to ensure each student has the ability to foster and develop under it.
EVENTS
ALTIUS
Altius is the annual fest of the Department of Economics of Christ University. It is hosted by Amartya, the Economics Association. Having been in existence for the past many years, Altius has seen wide participation from colleges all over the country. With the goal of spreading knowledge and setting the bar for the next level of competition in the area of Economics, Altuis has seen tremendous success over the years .
National Young Economist Competition
The National Young Economist Competition, the flagship programme of the Department of Economics, Christ University. The prestigious paper presentation event aims to inculcate research culture amongst students and attempts to provide a platform for the intellectual stimulation of budding economists. Through the years, undergraduate students from some of the most reputed institutions in the country have participated in Young Economist and have showcased their potential and knowledge.
